ENOCH'S FOOTPRINT
On the surface of the Foundation Stone, by its margin,
a sign is carved. The Arabs believe that this is the imprint of Idris the holy,
who is sanctified by the Moslem tradition. This sign is called in Arabic kadam
saydna Idris — the footprint of our master Idris. Next to it is his praying
place. By the virtue of his prayer on this holy spot, Idris ascended to heaven.
Idris the holy is mentioned by the Koran, and according to an ancient Moslem
tradition he is none other than Enoch of the Torah.
It is told in the Book of Genesis: "All the days
of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years. And Enoch walked with God,
and he was not; for God took him."21
